So the marathon is NEXT Sunday, and I am feeling a bit overwhelmed. My training has been harder this time around… partially, I think, because my body knows what it’s in for, and because it is summer, and life is a lot less structured.

I am hoping that I can make it through– with a little help from some cheering family and friends… (hint: cheer loudly, switch locations often, and take pictures!) Hopefully this race will be a great one.  I am looking forward to seeing how this race will play out, mentally.  It is as intense in your mind as it is on your body.  I am convinced that this race is more about how my mind can handle it, and less of how my body can. (said as I cross my fingers and hope my IT bands hold up.)

SF ‘08, Here We Come!!!

it is a life in slow motion,
it’s the heart in reverse,
it’s hope-and-a-half: too much and too little at once.

it’s a train that suddenly stops
with no station around,
and we can hear the cricket,
and, leaning out the carriage door,

we vainly contemplate
a wind we feel that stirs the blooming meadows,
the meadows
made imaginary by this stop

-Rainer Maria Rilke

I was set to finish some knitting at the local laundromat… thinking it would be just me, dozens of washers and dryers, and a bit of self-pity as i was face-to-face with the reality taht my life ihas amounted to doing laundry on a Friday night.

Little did i know that it is quite the interesting social scene. Grandparental types with thier middle-aged son, college students washing a semester’s worth of clothes, parents with toddlers… (doing laundry at 10pm seemed a bit late for them, but oh well.)

It was quite an interesting event, and quite an interesting place to capture some interesting beauty.

It’s TUNESDAY!!! And I think I have found my new/ old favorite musician… i just can’t get enough. I want to jump up and down, off of Oprah’s couch- Tom Cruise style.  I am really serious here. If you love soul… if you love toe-tappin’-turn your frown upside-down type music, you MUST check out this album.
It was released in June 2007, and i have like Marc Broussard’s music for quite some time, but OH MAN.

Save Our Soul ( Amazon Exclusive with Bonus Track )

Trust me. If you aren’t in a better mood after listening to “Yes You Can” then there is little to no hope for lifting your spirits.

Check it out.
